Happy Place by Emily Henry: A 5-Star Review
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶
Taylor Swift Song That Vibes: “Delicate”
Tropes: Found family, fake dating, one bed, second-chance romance
Favorite Quote: “In every universe, it’s you for me. Even if it’s not me for you.”
What Is Happy Place About?
Happy Place tells the story of Harriet and Wyn, a couple who broke up but haven’t told their friends. They’re forced to pretend they’re still together during their annual getaway to a coastal cottage with their close-knit friend group. This book not only explores romance but also focuses on the power of deep friendships that evolve into a found family.
Why You Should Read Happy Place
I loved witnessing Harriet’s evolving relationships with her best friends, Sabrina and Cleo, throughout the story. Additionally, the theme of self-discovery is prominent. Emily Henry does a fantastic job of focusing not just on Harriet and Wyn’s relationship, but also on their individual journeys and the idea that people never stop discovering who they are and what they love.
The dual timeline structure had me feeling all the emotions—one moment I was swooning over the romantic scenes, and the next I found myself tearing up for Harriet and Wyn. It’s an emotional rollercoaster that’s impossible to put down!
Taylor Swift Song That Matches the Vibe: “Delicate”
I chose “Delicate” by Taylor Swift as the song that resonates with Harriet and Wyn’s relationship because there’s so much uncertainty between them. Their relationship is in a fragile state, filled with tension. Harriet and Wyn must carefully navigate their interactions and figure out what to do while ensuring their annual vacation doesn’t fall apart.
Final Thoughts on Happy Place
If you’re a fan of romance novels that dive into themes of self-discovery and evolving friendships, Happy Place is a must-read. Emily Henry delivers another hit with this emotionally rich and heartwarming story.
