Pucking Sweet Review: Emily Rath’s MMF Romance

The highly anticipated third installment in the Jacksonville Rays series, Pucking Sweet, hit the shelves on September 24th, 2024—and let me tell you, it was an absolute treat. Fans of Emily Rath (myself included!) have been eagerly awaiting this release. Here’s my Pucking Sweet Review to help you decide if it’s your next read!

For those unfamiliar, Pucking Sweet is a MMF (male-male-female) romance, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea. So, if this dynamic isn’t your thing, you may want to sit this one out.

Before diving in, I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings. Emily Rath is conscientious about sensitive content, and there’s a dedicated section at the beginning of the book (at least in the Kindle version) to outline these potential triggers. It’s a thoughtful inclusion for readers who may need it.

In this Pucking Sweet Review, I’ll cover everything you need to know about Emily Rath’s latest hockey romance, from its unforgettable characters to its fiery MMF dynamic. This is a spoiler-free review, so you’re safe to continue reading. Here’s why Pucking Sweet needs to be on your radar!

Jacksonville Rays Series Reading Order

First things first: I highly recommend reading the Jacksonville Rays series in order. The three main books are interconnected, each following the same timeline but told from different characters’ points of view. As you move through the series, you’ll encounter familiar scenes—but from new perspectives, which adds depth to the story and the relationships.

Here’s the proper reading order to follow:

  1. That One Night (prequel novella)
  2. Pucking Around
  3. Pucking Ever After: Volume 1
  4. Pucking Wild
  5. Pucking Ever After: Volume 2
  6. Pucking Sweet

What Is Pucking Sweet About?

Pucking Sweet, the third installment in the Jacksonville Rays series, brings readers back into the thrilling world of professional hockey with a fiery new dynamic. This time, the story centers around Poppy, Lukas, and Colton, all part of the Jacksonville Rays hockey team. Poppy serves as the team’s PR director, while Lukas and Colton are defensemen who have reputations both on and off the ice.

Lukas is your classic party boy, known for his wild antics and a long list of one-night stands—qualities that often land him in media hot water. Enter Poppy. As the savvy PR director, it’s her job to clean up his image and control the public narrative around the team. From the get-go, the banter between Lukas and Poppy creates scenes charged with electric sexual tension.

However, Colton, a long-time friend of Lukas, has secretly harbored feelings for Poppy for years. Just as Colton decides he’s ready to pursue a relationship with her, Poppy reveals that she has a strict rule: she doesn’t date coworkers, as she believes it would be unprofessional.

While navigating their feelings for Poppy, Colton and Lukas find themselves caught in a rivalry that evolves into something unexpected. As they confront their own desires and insecurities, the lines between competition and connection blur in ways that will leave readers eager to discover the outcome.

Final Thoughts

I absolutely loved Pucking Sweet, just as I have the rest of the Jacksonville Rays series. Emily Rath has a special talent for creating dynamic characters with realistic flaws and insecurities. The interplay between Poppy, Lukas, and Colton is explosive and filled with depth, humor, and authenticity. Rath’s character development and sharp sarcasm are unmatched—making her one of my all-time favorite authors.

If you haven’t yet explored the Jacksonville Rays series, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Each book has been a thrilling ride, and I can’t wait to see what Emily Rath delivers next!
