Summer 2024 Reads I’m Obsessed With Right Now

Can you believe we’re already halfway through June? It feels like summer is flying by! To keep up, I’ve created my Summer Reading List 2024 to make sure I tackle some amazing books I’ve been neglecting. Please tell me I’m not the only one who buys books only to ignore them for an extended period, even when I’m excited to read them!

Read on to discover the four books I hope to dive into in the next few weeks of summer.

1. Happy Place by Emily Henry (Published April 25, 2023)

As I dive into my Summer Reading List 2024, I’m starting with books that perfectly match the season, like Emily Henry’s Happy Place. It’s an ideal pick for those long summer afternoons. Emily Henry has a cult following in the romance book community. I have read and loved several of her books, such as Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation, and Book Lovers. I even rated each of these books 5 out of 5 stars! She also recently came out with Funny Story, which is, of course, on my ever-growing to-be-read list. Summer seems like the perfect time to read Happy Place, which is about a couple who has broken up but are pretending to still be together while they go on their yearly vacation with their friends.

2. Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez (Published April 19, 2022)

Abby Jimenez is a new-to-me author, and I’ve heard countless amazing things about her on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. She is highly praised by well-loved authors such as Emily Henry and Ali Hazelwood. This will be a great book to follow up with after reading Happy Place, as they seem to be in the same vein. Part of Your World is an age-gap romance where two people from different worlds initially intend to keep things casual but unexpectedly find themselves developing deep feelings for each other.

3. House of Flame and Shadow: Crescent City, Book 3 by Sarah J. Maas (Published January 30, 2024)

I am a huge ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) fan and have read that entire series. I’ve read the first two books in the Crescent City series (House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath) and absolutely loved them. I will say, there is a lot of world building in this series, so I bought the audiobooks off of Audible to listen to while I read. I have found that has helped me immensely with understanding what is happening. I put off reading House of Flame and Shadow because I was trying to get through the Throne of Glass series, but I can’t wait any longer. Based on the ending of House of Sky and Breath (IYKYK), I must find out what happens next in the Crescent City series.

4. Me by Elton John (Published October 15, 2019)

Have you ever watched a movie and had a scene stick in your head that you’ll never forget? For me, it’s from Almost Famous, when the group is on the tour bus singing “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John. That moment sparked my fascination with Elton John, which only grew after watching Rocketman. Two years ago, I was incredibly lucky to attend the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. His performance was breathtaking, and he truly knows how to put on a show. Soon after, my husband bought me his autobiography, which I shamefully haven’t read yet. Does anyone else struggle with non-fiction like I do? I devour romance and fantasy novels but take forever to get through non-fiction. My plan is to read Me alongside the other three books on my list.
